Pre engaged starter ?

I think my starter is duff ,what are my options on a 1275 Midget engine for replacement ? It is currently fitted with a M35J .

The Lucas M35 series were used on many British classics cars over a wide period, so are widely available, as are the spares for them - AFAIK, it's just the number of teeth on the pinion that differs between them, and slight casing differences across the years.

You could alternatively go for one of the new lightweight, compact 'high torque' motors, which are available for the Minor/Midget, but are rather expensive, e.g., this one from Demon Tweeks:

Thanks for the reply . I was sort of hoping that something off something else might fit at a quarter of the price ! Mini / Metro ones look close , but if it was that easy everyone would know .

Yes I saw that Isuzu topic , but could not find a motor for sale .

The Isuzu Trooper starter will spin the engine like it has no compression. I found one on eBay for $35USD.
