Castle Combe Autumn Classic

Postby Oddjob67 » Mon Jun 13, 2016 8:53 pm

This is on the Morris Minor Owners Face book Page but worth a mention here.

‎Jonathon Heap‎ to Morris Minor Owners

As a support event to https://castlecombecircuit.co.uk/…/autumn-classic/1/10/2016/ we have been kindly invited to take part in a classic track day on Oct 30th as a support event for the Race weekend.
We will be taking Horrace my 306bhp Morris Minor capable of a 1.16 min lap of this superb circuit. Partnering Horrace will be our new 170bhp MG Midget.Neil Thomas will be present in his lovely K series Midget driven in his smooth drift style. Adam Kent Smith will also be taking part in his newly refreshed 200bhp Lotus twin cam , sequential gearboxed Morris Minor pickup
The intention of the day is to raise as much money for local charities by way of paid passenger rides. We are on track all day and the donation ( paper money) is totally up to your discretion. Be mindful we will all be trying our hardest to put in some hot laps, should you feel happy with the high speeds achievable on this superb track.
Hope to see some of you there

Just an effort to raise some interest in this event. Its free to watch or as much as you want to pay for a ride in any of the cars participating. If you are interested in conversions, modified brakes and suspension, there is no better way to sample them other than a balls out track day lappery.
Chances like this are not too common so worth the effort if you can. Hope to see someone there ! :(

Ha ! , yes Martin, an error on my part. I watched a video I made which gave 1.34 for me , and then you beating me by 9 secs. I mistakenly, took the 9 secs off your time. Mind you ,that was with 220bhp and a crappy gearbox, Horrace will be 340bhp with the 6 speed sequential, so might get nearer to the 1.16 after all. Anyway no one would know or care as they will be petrified at the end of a few laps :D

They definitely will be petrified, I still remember the reaction of the guy I took for a blast round Combe in your car, it was priceless, he could barely speak!.

I hope to get mine going for next year, I have finally repaired the inlet manifold, engine turns over ok by hand so hopefully fire it up in a month or so. I have to change the starter motor, cam belt, dry sump pump belt (got to get one first, can't remember the size) all fluids and dismantle most of the front of the car to get to it.

Great day thanks Martin, no need to have worried about the new box, its fantastic. Need a tad more clutch adjustment and it'll be great, new power gives a more progressive feel to the power and doesnt feel that much faster. Going back to Combe on the 13th Oct, the Goodwood at the end of the month.
