Crail 30th October 2016

Postby plastic orange » Sat Oct 29, 2016 11:51 am

Planning to go the Crail tomorrow for my final outing of the year. It's meant to be dry but cold, so should be ideal. I've refitted my skinny front wheels, so hoping to get at least another 12.2, but possibly better.

Just make sure the only things you break are the boy racers' egos :raz:

Not really many boy racers these days - it's a bit more mature than it used to be  . What there is though is quite a few expensive hot hatches _£30k +. It's great to line up against them. Fast ones are the Audi S3's, Golf R's and the small AMG mercs. All have around 400+ hp, traction control, 4 wheel drive, paddle shifters etc etc. If I mess up they could beat me, but not so far (famous last words). The Nissan GTR's I can't catch, nor the Audi RS 6's, but these are only a cam, some mapping and high stall converter away.
Suburus' Evo's and Focus RS's aren't in the hunt (unless someone brings along a really highly tweaked one, but not so far) - Ariel Atom 300 (supercharged Civic R powered) gives me the best/closest race.

I left Dundee in sunshine, but over in Fife the roads just got wetter the closer to Crail I got. The strip itself was very damp and in particular the start line. I waited around 2 hours to see if it would dry, but no chance. Only cars making a reasonable go of it were the usual Audi RS's. So that's it for the year as there was no way I'd attempt a pass in less than bone dry. I tried a very slight blip of the throttle in the car park and it just spun immediately as i'd thought it would.
Away to spend a while cleaning Horace and doing an oil and filter change.

I was expecting a posting of good times as it was great weather in Dundee, shame as you now have to give it a good clean!
