Well, the rotisserie is painted. Car just about stripped and I'm on with fabricating and welding the inner wing and flitch so I can replace the bumper mounting bar.

The steel of the flitch is surprisingly thin, welding it takes great care.

I've jacked her up on that orange bracket complete with axle and prop and wheels, no problem at all.

I broke my thumb on Maude last time I was in the garage so ive been taking it easy

My fault, amazing how much power a torsion bar has left even when the top wishbone is on the bottom stop. A wishbone/thumb interface from an instant unloading of the bar has the potential to burst a thumb and break the bone! I know this for a fact

Why was I doing this? Everything under there is so rusted together, the splines on the wishbone and bar were, and remain totally fused together with rust. There was simply no moving them. So, having removed the front arm and both nuts from the fulcrum-pin I reasoned that a swift blow with the lump hammer on the wishbone would see it part company from the pin and release the torsion. it worked a treat, but by crikey it was so fast the wishbone broke my thumb as the T bar unloaded on the first blow.

I know I should have taken the load like I did on the other side, the car is on a hydraulic lift so its as easy as pie to lower the car by the mm with a tube under the wishbone just as I did the other side to contain the torsion whilst freeing the wishbone BUT I knew the wishbone would only move downwards by an inch or so and thus,......I didnt

Other news, the axle and prop are out, I discovered why the car never sat properly, and why the axle hung lower at the nearside when off the ground. It had drastically different length spring hanger plates on each side! All seals in the axle are shot as well and so this is a full refurb job also.

Happy days..

Ouch! I can only imagine the pain Al and how awkward it must be to do anything with a broken thumb, I hope it gets better soon.
