Tinkering with Zoe the Traveller

Postby Corn22 » Sun Oct 02, 2016 4:54 pm

My Traveller is MOTed and running but there are quite a few things I want to do to her so thought I should start a project thread.
Here she is as I got her earlier this year

While I had her in the garage today I had a good poke around underneath with an old screwdriver to find out what need welding. I found the L/H front spring hanger need replacing and I put a hole in the L/H front chassis. The L/H chassis has been patched up a lot so I will replace the whole thing.

Another thing I wanted to do was replace the worn out engine with one I had that had been stored for a long time. You can see pics of that here http://morrisminorowners.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=12&t=11514

So onto my long list of jobs to do I made today

Fit new head to spare engine
Remove Seats and Carpet
Remove Bonnet
Drain Rad and disconnect
Remove bumper and front
Disconnect engine parts , exhaust etc
Remove gearbox tunnel, gearstick
Remove gearbox support
Remove Engine and gearbox
Drain fuel and remove fuel pipe.
Remove L/H front torsion bar, leg etc
Remove L/H Chassis leg
Clean all round chassis leg and fit new one.
Clean and rust proof underneath front
Fit new trunions to leg while its off car.
Refit leg and torsion bar.
Remove L/H rear spring
Remove and fit new front spring hanger.
Clear underneath rear and rust proof.
Fit new rear springs
Fix L/H rear axel oil leak.
Clean up engine bay
Fit new petrol pipe.
Fit new trunnions to R/H leg
Fit Marina disc brakes
Fit all new brake pipes
Fit new Master Cylinder
Fit remote top up
Fit Servo
Fit new rear brake cylinders
Bleed brakes
Fit spare engine
Fit car front back on
Fit new exhaust
Get engine running
Fit rad and flush engine.
Probably bleed brakes again
Fix original bonnet and refit.

I may then get round to tarting her up a bit but as long as the mechanics are good I am not to bothered about the cosmetics :D

About time I updated things

Old Front Chassis Leg removed
Image

New one fitted and welded in (Not welded in this pic)
Image

Cleaning and painting started
Image

Cleaning and fitting new Trunnions
Image

New Brake pipes
Image

Front Discs fitted along with new master cylinder
Image

With the front done (apart from refitting the engine) I am not turning my attention to the rear. The only welding I have found so far is the L/H front spring hanger so will get a repair panel for that.

Its the same place it was when the engine was in so the exhaust clears it
