I checked over my SIP mig welder today.
Just made sure that all was well after a longish period of decommision and use by friends over in Immingham who tried there very best to be helpful with a two door.
The welder was cleaned up and checked so no probs experienced when flashed it up for test welding on some plate steel :D

Lots of "other" developments which have intervened-so comments and updates will have to be with the help of my friends from now on.

Friends Gary, Simon and Mike, have all volunteered to put themselves on the front line to fine tune this years back on the road efforts.

All progress will be to turn BAS around in a decent manner to enable him to be in a roadworthy condition, safe and sound, all in time this years Rally at Pateley.

As some may have read-last years efforts were all for nought,as BAs's brakes failed and "other" difficulties didn't help but as they say-get on with it, stop wallowing- and never say never, there are lots of people around who dont have a Minor or other things-so feeling really blessed ;) .

Watch this space.

Got to say big thanks to Rory-Graeme-Derick and Custard for parts supplied to be of great help, for my new plans.

Items to follow

Regards
Cliff

Question.

I can recognise the SU 38.
But cannot reconise the others. They look and seem to match as a pair the hole is 44mm.

Anyone any ideas.

They could be either HIF44 or HS6 carbs, as fitted to many '80s/'90s BL/Rover stuff. When you say they are matching, do you mean in a 'handed' way, i.e. right or left/forward or aft for a twin carb setup?

I found a similar looking set dumped in a skip, that turned out to be from an Austin Princess 2200, the Wedge with the six-cylinder engine. A German buyer on E-bay paid quite a good sum for them, so they didn't go to waste.

Thanks all for the help.

Sadly got to report ,despite all the help in the world- and then some......I will not be able to bring BAS to Pateley. Really gutted about that.
Despite that bad news news from the minormadmans garage, i shall be there.

Good luck to everyone and safe journeys too and from with REALLY good weather for all those camping over the weekend.

Well after a pretty wasted Summer decent weather., i have resigned myself to a busy and quite long winter refurb.
Having already done a minor ( sorry about that) assesment refurd 18 months ago i am feeling very well organised to cope with this bigger version.
A full stripdown is 95% complete.
Wings off.
Interior stripped out for my mate Mogimad to renew to match my new seats which hes already done...really excellent job.
Front and rear screens out.
948 Gearbox out to be relaced by a 1098 item.
More to follow.

Last week ordered my new interior trim. All to be done by Mogimad. It might be a bit previous as still at the weld stage. But the chance has come up to take all my original interior trim bits up to 2frys for his birthday bash and hand over my parts to Mogimad who will be there too. New trimmed items will be matched to my new seat colours.
Also during this time (pics to follow) sending off all chrome bits , sill covers, my wider banded wheels for paint.
Hopefully most of it will keep freshly stored until late March when??? Things may be at a reassembly stage.
Thanks for reading.

This pic shows the tester paint job on the top right of the firewall....its come out quite acceptable ( seeing as the original was only crap undercoat in the first place) So defo think this will be the standard achieved before the exterior goes for top coat paint.
