Sort of in conjunction with my post about fitting a Fiesta electric heater valve(should that also have been posted in this section??).
Having added the electric valve block to my system, I was still underwhelmed by the heater output, despite having fitted a larger (Austin 1100) flushed out matrix and 2 speed fan.
Finally I investigated the only possible restriction left- the old original heater valve on the top of the cylinder head by the battery. As I wanted to end up with a stub to connect to the Fiesta valve, I hacksawed the valve section off the top of the alloy body, leaving a handy stub to accept a rubber pipe
,and found that the rubber seal inside the old valve head had broken up and was severely blocking the water flow! That part is now in the bin where it belongs, and the heater is....WOW!!
working. My feet actually got uncomfortably warm today after 4 miles
