Even though the Minor spring hangers were mass produced steel pressings - production tolerances resulted in - especially hole centres not being always spot on relative to other considerations/items.
I agree that it is very important that the side plates are a tight fit against the underside of the spring hanger otherwise the plates can move/work loose.
The ESM side plates are what they are - mass produced.

Thanks again, Phil and bob.

I had to put a 90 degree twist in the shaft of a spanner to get those little 1/4 bolts in. Maybe I hadn't found the right technique so I'll have another look. Might be possible to have the 1/4 (or 5/16) bolts welded on captive plates. I'll do more research over the holidays.
