Is it definitely a 2000 8v? If you need engine parts you may find it is an 1800 Manta engine.

Or did they actually do a 2.0 version of that engine in the end?

I had the 2.0 SR Ascona which is really a 4 door Manta.

I thought the distributor facing backwards was usually on the 1800s done like that to save space when the engine was transverse as the Cavalier overlapped the last days of the Manta/Ascona (the engine also went in the Carlton).

I thought the 2.0 8V was rearwheel drive only with the dizzy on the o/s of the block towards the front of the car if I remember correctly. It was a cam in head engine with rockers rather than an OHC engine with buckets and shims.

Then the 2.0 16v DOHC came in which was completely different.

It is still an interesting car though.

Sean.

Defiantly a 2.0 8V overhead cam high port as verified by the engine number good for 130bhp and is rear wheel drive bud

Like it. Nice induction manifold on the engine, but have to ask, do you know what pedal box and servo it has fitted? It should have great stopping power. Cheers Kev
