Is it definitely a 2000 8v? If you need engine parts you may find it is an 1800 Manta engine.
Or did they actually do a 2.0 version of that engine in the end?
I had the 2.0 SR Ascona which is really a 4 door Manta.
I thought the distributor facing backwards was usually on the 1800s done like that to save space when the engine was transverse as the Cavalier overlapped the last days of the Manta/Ascona (the engine also went in the Carlton).
I thought the 2.0 8V was rearwheel drive only with the dizzy on the o/s of the block towards the front of the car if I remember correctly. It was a cam in head engine with rockers rather than an OHC engine with buckets and shims.
Then the 2.0 16v DOHC came in which was completely different.
Well after two years things have changed somewhat.it's a 2ltr 8v but with my own design turbo system from a Subaru wrx with emerald k6 ecu mapped by me Today is the first time I have taken the car for a run
