Astral Traveller

Anything goes - chassis, V6's, V8's etc.

Nice bit of progress! Can't the existing roof be repaired, as it's going to be a mission fitting the repair section?!

It's only the sunroof section needing replaced - Andy cut out a larger section than required for adjustments :D

Lookin busy Pete-but get them spiders outa 'ere .

(not) so happy memories of Vinyl roof fitting-did a Vittesse in the 70's-took me all day, thought it was the coolest thing on the planet (well in Grimethorpe anyway)

Mabel certainly looks different out in the open.   :)

Looking forwards to seeing you plans for the "Astral Traveller" 8)

No updates, I'm concentrating on mabel at the moment - Astral Traveller can wait a bit longer - not coming to any harm now.

I decided to make a start on mabel today and had a garage tidy up. I then decided to make a concerted effort to find the chassis number for Astral Traveller (haven't got a V5). I got out my trusty brass wire brush and cleaned up the chassis plates the original builder had relocated at the top of the bulkhead.
I now think I have found a number that relates to what I think is the build date, so I'll make another attempt with the heritage centre to validate this - fingers crossed :D

Wahaaaaaaaaaaay, I've now got a heritage certificate for Astral Traveller.
It was originally Gascoyne Grey and built on ether 21st or 22nd May 1951 and despatched on 24th May to Nuffield Exports.
I'll now be able to get a V5 for it - fingers crossed.

I needed a heritage certificate to prove to DVLA it is a Morris Minor. Because I have evidence that it was modified in 1973/4 then it should get a V5 with all it's mods declared.

Sometimes DVLA, do come up trumps (i said sometimes)

With my traveller, even though it had been in america for near 10 years it was still registered here, and I just applied for new ownership and they sent the V5   So hopefully you'll be sorted Pete

At long last I've been able to purchase copies of Custom Car magazine with the car featuring - March and April 1975 - well done ebay.
I'll now go and see the local DVLA office before it closes for good.

A thread has appeared here: http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topi ... rris+Minor
about Astral Traveller. It looks like I'll be finding out some missing history from the 80's onwards  :)
