Crail, Sunday 14th

Postby plastic orange » Fri Sep 12, 2014 2:26 pm

I've decided to attend Crail on Sunday (weather dependent) to give Horace a run up the strip. Muj should be there too, so hopefully someone will get a pic of side by side Morris action.
I have space for a passenger - probably 1 in Muj too.
I've no idea of possible times as too many things can factor into it, plus I'm not sure how it will react on the poor surface at ton plus speeds (extreme caution on initial run :D ).
I do know it is loads quicker than Muj which normally does around 14.7 @ 95mph

Well, It's a bit of a handful. Best pass I think was 12.9 at 105, but I was backing off as things got a bit loose. I did 6 passes I think and one I had to back off several times and then reapply throttle which caused left front wheel to hop
It wasn't revving much past 4k in gears, and it revs to 6, so plenty potential to come. It really needs a rear anti roll bar to stop the torque lifting the front left.
Muj managed consistent 14.5's At 95, so a pb for it and my son Andrew. Vidie and pics to follow.

Congratulations to Andrew and MUJ for the personal bests.
Sounds a bit worrying at times in Horace, are you going to investigate an anti roll bar?

Looking forward to them.

Anti roll bar is on the to do list along with bigger front brakes and some steering tweaks. I really wasn't expecting 12's as I was being pretty cautious. I'd have been happy with mid 13's.
I know that a similar powered Minor does low 11's - but at a decent track.

Andrew's times are a lot more consistent than mine - just goes to show what tried and tested brings. As can be seen, I've not got very high terminal speeds due to backing off at the top end (or before). Practise will bring 11's

If you check through the Crail times you'll see folk are in the 110+ at top end with my times>

What does the reaction time signify?

Where is that measured?

Does it mean Horace spins of the line when MUJ digs in and goes?

Sean.

Reaction time is from the green light coming on and car moving forward. Muj probably spins more off the line, but Horace has stickier tyres and an LSD so kind of squirms and lifts and gets out of line. I'll really have to get used to it before I can keep the power on.
