different tyre size?

Postby cococola » Mon Dec 26, 2016 9:38 pm

I need to replace 3 of my morris minor tyres and I have a full set of 175/65/14 tyres that are very decent.
My question is will these tyres fit onto my standard wheels with no issues to rubbing or catching.
I realise that the speedo will be out but I can deal with this.
many thanks in advance

I would think that 175 tyres would be far too wide for the rim with a very high chance of the tyre coming off whilst cornering, I wouldn't use anything wider than 155 on standard rims.

When I got my 67 Morris Minor it has 185-70x 14 tires on the stock wheels. No rubbing and the speedo was pretty close. I now have those tires on some 14x5.5 VTO wheels with no ill effects.

I would love to have them on my own wheels as I have a full set of steel mgf wheels with as new tyres in this size in Goodyears.
